Whilst the numbers attending St Scholastica’s Primary School have fluctuated over the period of its life, it has never had access to a place where the whole school could assemble other than in the church. This has limited the school in fully providing for the children as the church is not always available and sometimes it is not suitable place for school gatherings. When Paul Gleeson became principal of the school two years ago he felt that the one major facility missing was a hall in which curriculum extras could take place and he enthusiastically supported the Hall Committee in designing and obtaining a hall.

The Hall Committee was formed under the leadership of the late Mrs Maureen McAndrew. The committee had representatives from the school community as well as the parish community. The design and equipping of this hall is a result of the committee’s hard work and initiative.

The kitchen in the hall is named in honor of the late Mrs Patricia Cahill who gave so much of her time to the parish and who was the inspiration to build a very good kitchen in the hall. One of the meeting rooms is named in honor of Mrs Maureen McAndrew, the Chairman of the Hall Committee who set up the Activities Group in the parish and over saw the planning of this enterprise.
